Dong Nai Hot Air Balloon Festival 2025: A World-Class Event

The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province has approved the proposal for the ‘Dong Nai Hot Air Balloon Festival 2025,’ marking the first-ever internationally scaled event of its kind, alongside the Bien Hoa Pottery Festival.

This international-scale hot air balloon event is being held in Dong Nai to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Southern Vietnam and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025).

According to the organizers, the opening ceremony of the Hot Air Balloon Festival is scheduled to take place at 7:00 AM on April 27 and will run until April 30 at Son Tien Tourist Area (An Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City). Visitors will be granted free entry during the performance hours, from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM and from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with each session lasting 90-120 minutes.

The Dong Nai Hot Air Balloon Festival 2025 aims to introduce a new and unique tourism product, creating a distinctive tourism brand to attract a large number of both domestic and international visitors. Additionally, the festival will serve as a promotional platform for Dong Nai’s tourism, culture, and heritage.

One of the festival’s highlights will be the National Flag Ceremony, featuring a 500m² national flag soaring at an altitude of 50-70 meters, symbolizing the 50-year anniversary of Southern Liberation and National Reunification.

Other notable performances include:

  • 20 paragliders and ultralight aircraft showcasing aerial displays
  • 40 model airplanes and drones in synchronized demonstrations
  • 50 large-scale aerodynamic artistic kites
  • A grand brass band performance featuring 500 musicians from Dong Nai and a world-record-breaking 150-member children’s band from Vietnam
  • A traditional drum performance with 120 drummers from Dong Nai

This groundbreaking festival is expected to serve as a major tourism highlight, significantly boosting local tourism by promoting food services, accommodations, and entertainment industries. Hot air balloon rides will offer attendees a thrilling experience, providing a panoramic aerial view of Bien Hoa City and its surroundings from a unique bird’s-eye perspective.

Mr. Nguyen Viet Binh, Chairman of the Dong Nai Handicraft Pottery Association, stated that the Bien Hoa Traditional Pottery Festival will also take place during the event. This festival aims to revive the rich history of Bien Hoa’s ancient pottery craft, renowned both domestically and internationally. It will showcase exquisite artistic pottery with high aesthetic and practical value created by local artisans, fostering the development of the Bien Hoa pottery village and enhancing its integration into global markets.
